Sales Tax Training Sessions

We often hear from our clients that the rules concerning sales tax are too complex and confusing. We agree--the rules for sales/use tax and other transaction taxes are very different from income tax rules. And we know that finding the right answer about the taxability of a transaction can be very difficult.

So, another service we offer our clients is training for their employees based on their company’s specific accounting system and their particular industry. Usually, this training can be completed in about ten hours. We start by thoroughly reviewing your records and talking to your personnel to understand what they have been doing regarding collecting and accruing sales or use tax.

Based on our findings, we conduct a two- to three-hour interactive presentation with you and your employees, answering the specific questions raised and addressing the issues your company faces. We also prepare written materials that explain the rulings and interpretations issued by the Department of Revenue for the state in question. That way, your employees understand why a product or service is taxable or not taxable, and they also have something in writing to support the position they take.
